Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Vice President – Embedded Hardware & R&D to lead the design, development, and innovation of next-generation embedded hardware platforms. A leader who will drive end-to-end hardware product strategy, manage global engineering teams, and ensure delivery of scalable, high-performance, and cost-optimized solutions aligned with business objectives.
The role requires deep technical expertise in embedded systems combined with strong business acumen and organizational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Vision
• Define and execute the long-term R&D roadmap for embedded hardware platforms.
• Align hardware innovation strategy with product, software, and business goals.
• Identify emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
• Drive IP creation, patent strategy, and technology differentiation.
- Engineering Leadership
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across hardware design, PCB layout, power electronics, firmware integration, validation, and testing.
• Oversee architecture design for embedded systems including microcontrollers, SoCs, connectivity modules, and edge devices.
• Establish scalable engineering processes, quality frameworks, and design standards.
• Mentor senior engineering leaders and build a high-performance R&D culture.
- Product Development & Execution
• Drive full product lifecycle management from concept to production and sustaining engineering.
• Ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality product releases.
• Collaborate with Product, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams for seamless NPI (New Product Introduction).
• Optimize BOM costs and improve hardware reliability and manufacturability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Software, Cloud, AI, and Systems teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
• Work closely with executive leadership on strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Engage with customers and key stakeholders for technical alignment and roadmap discussions.
- Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., CE, FCC, UL, ISO, Automotive/Medical standards as applicable).
• Oversee risk mitigation strategies for hardware reliability and supply chain continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (PhD preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in embedded hardware development with at least 7–10 years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading large-scale R&D organizations.
Deep expertise in:
• Embedded systems architecture
• Microcontrollers / SoCs (ARM-based platforms, etc.)
• PCB design & high-speed signal integrity
• Power management systems
• Wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE, LTE, etc.)
• Hardware validation & certification
• Strong knowledge of product commercialization and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in global team management and cross-border collaboration preferred.
