Job Title Verification - Technical Competency Lead

Purpose of role

To define and lead Verification methodologies and technical strategies that drive innovation, efficiency, and alignment with industry standards. This role ensures scalable, standardized processes and provides expert consultation to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

· Define and implement technical strategies and methodologies across the organization.

· Displaying a customer focused approach by demonstrating clear and competent communication, issue resolution & delivery to expectations and sharing this approach with the team.

· Promote innovation through scalable, standardized engineering processes and tools.

· Identify best practice by networking widely and extensively with EDA and IP companies and their users in other companies as applicable to our ASIC projects.

· Ensure suitable design methodologies and flows are available, clearly documented and with suitable training provided for all project phases. Where required define R&D work packages for execution in R&D team.

· Collate feedback from Project Leads, Technical Leads and regional experts to identify areas for improvement.

· Collaborate with external partners to integrate cutting-edge methodologies and IPs.

· Should be able to contributes to technical white papers and present at internal and external conferences and will contribute to sales support as part of a team.

· Provide expert consultation and governance across customer projects.

· Act as a subject matter expert, supporting peer reviews and resolving complex technical issues.

· Ensure alignment between project execution and overarching technical strategy.

Technical Skills

· Experience: Typically 10+ years in the semiconductor industry with a strong focus on functional verification.

· Technical Expertise: Recognized technical authority in verification methodologies and SystemVerilog/UVM-based environments.

· Verification Strategy: Deep understanding of verification planning, coverage-driven verification, and “shift-left” concepts for early bug detection.

· Verification Tools & Checks: Extensive experience with verification and design-check tools, including:

· Simulation (event-driven and formal)

· Equivalence checking and assertions (SVA)

· Functional coverage analysis and closure

· DFT/DFD check integration where applicable

· Automation & Infrastructure: Strong awareness of data integrity, regression management, SCM tools and maintaining reproducible audit trails.

· Low-Power Verification Techniques (e.g., UPF/CPF verification flows)

· Formal Verification Methodologies

· Emulation/Acceleration & Hybrid Verification Environments

· Algorithmic or AI-Based Verification Automation & Quality Improvement

· Functional Safety Verification (ISO 26262, DO-254, etc.)

· Requirements Traceability & Management

· Integration of Verification with Quality Management Systems (QMS)

· Problem Solving & Mentorship: Proven capability to diagnose complex design/verification issues and coach verification engineers to improve efficiency and quality.

· Methodology Development: Defining, documenting, and maintaining clear verification methodologies, best practices, and training materials.

· EDA Tool Management: Working with EDA vendors to select and maintain state-of-the-art verification tools (simulation, formal, emulation, coverage analysis), and coordinating higher-level vendor support. · Communication: Able to present complex verification concepts and results clearly and persuasively to internal stakeholders and external partners.
