About the company and the role

At Lendurai , we enable unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to operate independently of global navigation satellite systems and radio control, using computer vision and machine learning. We partner with multiple UAV manufacturers to deliver cost-effective capabilities to public sector and defence customers. Our core team has substantial experience in aerospace engineering and developing computer vision applications across Europe, including at companies like Bolt (EE), Open Cosmos (UK), and Starship Technologies (EE). Lendurai has offices in Estonia and Ukraine.

As a UAV Field Operations Engineer in Ukraine, you will be embedded in the country’s UAV ecosystem: working directly with military end users, supporting OEMs who integrate Lendurai solutions on their platforms, and running polygon tests. You’ll be the bridge between frontline drone teams, local UAV manufacturers, and our remote engineering and product teams.

Required

Hands-on FPV combat / near-combat experience :

Proven experience flying FPV drones in manual modes (Acro), ideally in combat or realistic training missions.

Deep radio / firmware configuration skills :

Advanced configuration and flashing of MILERS and MILBETA firmwares.
Experience integrating and troubleshooting different radio stacks (video, control, telemetry, repeaters) on FPV and multirotor platforms.

Flight controller and tuning expertise :

Experience with PID tuning and related parameters for multirotors.
Confident working with common FC stacks (Betaflight/INAV/Ardupilot/PX4 or similar).

Language and location :

Fluent Ukrainian and English (spoken and written).
Based in Ukraine, with ability and willingness to travel frequently to drone bases and test polygons.

Community & collaboration :

Active or well-connected in the Ukrainian military drone development community (units, volunteers, OEMs, integration labs, R&D teams).
Comfortable working near combat zones (non-frontline) and engaging daily with military end users.
Able to work effectively with remote engineering teams via calls, chats, and structured feedback.

Nice to have

Prior involvement in military or volunteer UAV R&D projects (designing custom frames, payloads, or mission profiles).
Experience building/maintaining ground stations and repeater setups for extended-range FPV.
Python or scripting skills for quick log parsing, telemetry analysis, or custom tooling.
Prior work with defence / public safety agencies or OEMs as a technical field engineer.
Military service history or equivalent operational exposure.

Work with military drone workshops to resolve technical, configuration, and integration issues on FPV and multirotor platforms using Lendurai solutions.

Support UAV manufacturers in Ukraine to integrate Lendurai software and hardware into their airframes and ground control systems.

Plan, execute, and document polygon tests and range trials with defence customers and partners.

Integrate and test radio and video links on UAV platforms, including MILERLS, analogue video, digital video systems, repeater systems, and ground stations.

Configure, flash, and optimise MILERS / MILBETA firmware.

Perform PID tuning and other controller parameter optimisation for multirotors and fixed wing platforms to meet specific mission profiles.

Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, radio and firmware issues in the field; keep airframes and ground stations in operational condition for testing and demos.

Capture and structure logs/telemetry and video from flights; share insights with remote engineering and product teams to improve algorithms and user experience.

Train end users (drone pilots, technicians, instructors) to configure, operate, and maintain Lendurai-powered systems.

Collaborate closely with remote engineering teams (Estonia/elsewhere): reproduce issues, validate fixes, and feed back real-world constraints and edge cases.

Operate with a safety-first mindset in and around combat zones (non-frontline): risk assessment, clear communication with unit commanders, and disciplined field procedures.
