Title: Systems Integration Engineer – Laboratory Setup
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Role Summary
The Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and integration of laboratory equipment, automation systems, and IT infrastructure. This role ensures that laboratory instruments, software platforms, and network systems work together efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
The engineer will support new laboratory setups, upgrades, and ongoing operations by coordinating between IT, facilities, vendors, and laboratory teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, design, and implement integrated laboratory systems, including analytical instruments, automation platforms, and supporting IT infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and test laboratory equipment and automation systems.
• Integrate laboratory instruments with IT systems such as LIMS, ELN, databases, and network services.
• Configure and maintain network connectivity for laboratory devices.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams during lab setup and commissioning.
• Perform system validation, testing, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and integration issues.
• Maintain system documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support upgrades, maintenance, and lifecycle management of lab equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in: Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or Systems), or Information Technology, or a related technical field)
• 3+ years of experience in: Laboratory systems, automation, or equipment integration, IT infrastructure, or systems engineering
• Experience with: Laboratory instruments and automation equipment, Network configuration (TCP/IP, switches, device connectivity), System installation and commissioning
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with LIMS, ELN, or scientific data systems
• Knowledge of automation protocols and industrial communication (e.g., Modbus, OPC, RS-232/485)
• Experience in regulated environments (GxP, ISO, or similar)
• Vendor coordination and project implementation experience
• Basic scripting or programming knowledge (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
