The Waymo Mapping team's goal is to build a high resolution map of the world to support safe autonomous driving. We work on creating the map using a combination of automatic and manual techniques and build the infrastructure to store, process, and distribute the map. Our team collaborates with several other Waymo teams that consume map data. * Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map data * Apply the latest machine learning technology to generate maps from raw data * Improve our internal tools for viewing and editing maps * Scale our systems to support mapping the whole world * B.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience * Minimum of 5 years Machine Learning experience (preferably in Mapping) * Hands-on machine learning experience - ideally on image recognition problems. * Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system * A passion for good software engineering * M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience * Experience with Tensorflow and/or C++ * Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
