Right now, we are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team at KNIME in Berlin or Konstanz.

Who You Are You’re an experienced software developer ready for a new challenge. You have a degree in computer science (or something similar) and experience working on large-scale applications.

You have solid experience building backend services in Java and are comfortable working with modern frontend technologies like JavaScript or TypeScript. You enjoy designing clean, maintainable architectures and aren’t afraid to dive into a large codebase to improve or extend it. You know how to work with relational databases, write efficient queries, and design APIs that are both powerful and easy to use.

You’re at home in an agile, collaborative environment, whether that means pair programming, reviewing code, or brainstorming architecture with teammates. You’re comfortable shipping features for both SaaS and on-premise deployments. If you’ve worked with Go before, that’s a plus, but you’re just as happy to pick it up as needed.

It’s also a bonus if you’ve worked with Kubernetes and Helm, are familiar with tools like JIRA, Jenkins, Git, and Confluence, or have experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch. We’d love someone who’s experienced with, or at least curious about, leveraging AI development tools, bringing AI capabilities into real projects and production.

You value writing clean, well-tested code and you care about the people who will read and use it later. Working in English is natural for you, and you’re motivated to keep learning and growing while contributing to the success of our team and our technology.

That's the job Role You’ll be part of a team that designs, builds, and deploys the core services and web applications behind KNIME Hub, with a particular focus on the Community Hub SaaS platform. You’ll work on developing robust Java-based microservices as well as contributing to frontend components to deliver seamless, user-friendly web experiences. In this role, you’ll:

• Design, implement, and maintain Java-based microservices powering KNIME Hub.
• Develop and enhance web applications and frontend components using JavaScript/TypeScript/Vue.
• Build, design, and improve REST APIs to support seamless integration across products.
• Explore and apply AI development tooling to enhance features, automation, and overall platform capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and agile development practices.
• Collaborate closely with other teams to identify issues and implement solutions that improve performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Be part of a respectful and supportive team culture, working closely with other KNIMErs, our customers, and partners.
