The Analytics Platform, established in late 2024 as part of the Data Infrastructure team, has been redefining the foundation of data analysis and metrics to enable machine learning, data science, engineering, and safety analysis with modern big data technologies. The team has been developing Zoox’s schedule-based and event-based data processing platforms, using technology such as AWS, Databricks, Spark, Parquet, and DuckDB, for multiple teams to transform several PBs of structured data into more efficient and queryable data formats.

By joining this team, you’ll collaborate with a world-class group of software engineers to tackle complex challenges at the scale of hundreds of petabytes of data, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in autonomous transportation.

In This Role, You Will

• Develop features for Zoox’s event-based processing framework to process a large volume of data with complex dependencies
• Develop features for the schedule-based processing framework built on top of Airflow, Spark, AWS EMR, and DuckDB
• Optimize the data infrastructure configurations to balance the performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Investigate the stability, performance, and scalability issues in data ingestion and processing platforms
• Work closely with the Staff and Senior engineers inside and outside the organization to understand the user pain points and define solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related fields with 2+ years of industry experience in software engineering
• Strong programming skills, especially in Python for large-scale data processing
• Good understanding of big data systems
• Experience in using cloud services, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

$147,000 - $198,000 a year

Base Salary Range There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
