WE ARE LOOKING FOR Simulation Data Integration & Sensor Engineer Unikie is looking for a Simulation Data Integration & Sensor Engineer to join a project building a digital twin simulation environment for a major industrial client. This role is focused on bringing the real world into the simulation — connecting sensor streams, telemetry, control signals, and machine data to a virtual environment built on NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim.

You will work closely with the simulation architect to ensure the environment accurately reflects real-world signals and system behaviour, building and maintaining the data pipelines that make the digital twin credible and useful for engineering and automation teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines that bring real-world sensor and telemetry streams into the simulation environment.
• Integrate LiDAR, GPS, camera, and other sensor data into the virtual model, ensuring realistic behaviour and correct timing.
• Interpret and process structured and semi-structured data formats — binary messages, JSON/XML, UDP/TCP streams.
• Validate simulation outputs against expected sensor characteristics and system behaviour.
• Handle coordinate transformations, velocity/position tracking, and basic kinematic calculations.
• Collaborate with the simulation architect to ensure sensor and data layers integrate cleanly with the USD environment.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Isaac Sim or another modern robotics simulation platform (ROS/ROS2, Gazebo, Unreal/Unity-based simulators, or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience integrating real-world data sources into simulations: sensor messages, telemetry streams, positional data, control signals, or machine states.
• Ability to interpret and process structured or semi-structured data (binary messages, JSON/XML, UDP/TCP streams).
• Strong Python skills for building data ingestion layers, processing pipelines, and simulation scripting.
• Understanding of coordinate transformations, velocity/position tracking, and basic kinematics.
• Experience validating simulation outputs against expected system behavior or sensor characteristics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to NVIDIA Isaac Sim Sensor API (camera, LiDAR, GNSS), or willingness to deepen expertise.
• Background in robotics perception, sensor fusion, or computer vision.
• Experience with time-sensitive data processing, low-latency streaming, or real-time feedback loops.
• Familiarity with integrating simulation with external test setups or automation tools.
• Implemented LiDAR-based systems including hardware setup, calibration, and ROS2 stack development.
