Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator / IT Operations Lead (Tier 3) to oversee our complex IT infrastructure and ensure seamless system performance. In this pivotal role, you will lead advanced system administration efforts, manage critical IT operations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across our technology landscape. Your expertise will support our mission to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that enable our clients’ success.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise system architecture, including virtualization platforms such as VMware and ESXi.
Manage and optimize IT infrastructure components including RAID controllers, load balancers, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and network configurations to ensure high availability and security.

4+ years in DoD or Navy environments

Pay: $100,881.02 - $135,749.19 per year

Oversee system administration tasks across operating systems like Windows, Linux, and UNIX environments while ensuring compliance with security standards.
Develop and implement automation scripts using Bash, Python, Shell Scripting, and other tools to streamline operations within CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Git, and Azure DevOps.
Maintain and enhance database systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server with a focus on performance tuning and security best practices.
Collaborate with solution architects to design scalable microservices architectures using Kubernetes, Docker containers, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
Ensure robust information security protocols are in place by managing firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and conducting regular vulnerability assessments.
Support system upgrades, patches, disaster recovery plans, and incident response procedures in line with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) standards.
Proven experience in system administration across diverse operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS), and UNIX systems.
Strong knowledge of network protocols such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP; experience configuring firewalls and VPN solutions for secure connectivity.
Hands-on expertise with virtualization technologies like VMware ESXi; experience managing virtualized environments at scale.
Familiarity with cloud services including AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure for deploying scalable solutions.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash (Unix shell), Python; experience automating tasks within DevOps environments using Jenkins or similar tools.
Deep understanding of system architecture principles including service-oriented architecture (SOA), solution architecture design, load balancing strategies and system design best practices.
Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle; experience with SQL/T-SQL scripting for database management.
Experience working within Agile methodologies; familiarity with SDLC processes for software development and deployment.
Strong grasp of information security principles; ability to implement security measures like firewalls, REST API security practices and access controls.
