You will work at the intersection of legacy healthcare systems and contemporary software engineering, developing interfaces, APIs, and services that enable interoperability and future growth. This is a high-impact, permanently remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

What You Will Do

• Build across the stack from the back-end to APIs and the middle-tier to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Design and build large-scale, distributed, highly available, well-tested, and easily managed applications.
• Draw from previous experience building highly scalable systems to influence and steer improvements within our distributed Engineering team.
• Work collaboratively with people throughout the company to understand the goals, needs, and priorities of systems and applications.

Required Qualifications

• Strong foundation in M (MUMPS) with hands-on production experience
• Proven experience with .NET / C# development in production systems
• Deep experience with HL7 (v2.x), including message development, parsing, and troubleshooting
• Experience building and maintaining system interfaces and integrations
• Strong understanding of healthcare systems, interoperability, and data workflows
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the VistA technology stack and integrating VistA with modern web services and APIs
• Proficiency in the python programming language
• Experience with building and deploying containerized applications (i.e. Docker)
• Familiarity with healthcare standards beyond HL7 (e.g., FHIR)
• Experience in modernizing or extending legacy systems

What you bring to the team (must have)

• 5+ years of experience writing understandable, testable, and efficient code in a health care setting
• 5+ years of engineering experience with a good understanding of designing robust and scalable services.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• A keen sense of end-to-end ownership and drive to deliver.
• Clear communication around technical concepts and ideas to other engineers and the ability to talk to customers and other teams.
