The Onboarding & Activation team is focused on revolutionizing the initial user experience at 9fin to drive significant growth and revenue. We're directly addressing the challenge of transforming our trial conversion rate, by ensuring new users immediately grasp the immense value of our global, multi-product platform. This involves deeply understanding varied user journeys, streamlining complex onboarding processes, and enhancing feature adoption so that our powerful platform becomes instantly intuitive and valuable for time-pressed financial professionals in the fixed income industry worldwide.

What you’ll work on

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

• Use your technical skills to lead projects that solve real customer problems that yourself and your team find on our customer facing platforms and onboarding flow and to improve key metrics for the team in a fast iterative way.
• Collaborate with product managers & UX designers to discover user pain points through user interviews, journey mapping, competitor analysis, focus groups and data analysis.
• Release code into production continuously using techniques such as feature flags to safely release incrementally to users.
• Craft code that meets high quality standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. Maintain and advocate for these standards throughout the engineering org through collaboration with other engineers and code review.
• Share and contribute to the product vision to focus on allowing 9fin’s platform to scale with our company ambition.
• Run multiple experiments on different parts of our onboarding funnel to validate hypotheses of how the changes will impact conversion and product engagement rates.
• Take on the technical leadership to plan, design and build new functionality and systems by creating quick proof of concepts to get fast and actionable feedback.
• You will also play a part in mentoring other developers including more junior colleagues to impart knowledge and build their skills.
• Write high quality documentation and implement user & system metrics and observability as you go to continually learn, assess and improve 9fin’s platforms and products.

About You

• You excel at transforming product designs into functional and beautiful user interfaces, driven by a passion for creating delightful customer experiences.
• A highly analytical technologist, who prioritises user experience and is experienced in translating user needs into software improvements.
• A strong communicator, who can present to team members and stakeholders (technical and non-technical) how you & your team’s ideas will improve our user’s experience on the platform as well as the wider technical advantages and trade offs of your solution.
• Experienced with multiple programming languages within the backend and frontend stack.
• Uses metrics extensively to measure the success of new software changes and functionality against team KPIs.
• Can empathise with our users and how they interact with the product to find pain points and ideate a better experience for them
• Collaborates well with business colleagues, other engineers, UX Designers and Product managers to collectively lead product innovation achieved via fast delivery and frequent feedback iterations.
• Grows the skills and experience of others in the team in collaboration with our engineering managers using your technical knowledge, experience and team work.
• Proactively identified tech debt and developer experience improvements and champions frontend technical improvements and initiatives within your team and across multiple teams with the guilds.
• Can effectively advocate for software development best practices, including documentation, testing, code readability, and efficiency, in order to positively influence. team outcomes and promote a culture of excellence within the development process.
• Capable of evaluating new technologies by presenting proof-of-concepts that highlight their advantages and disadvantages and how they can be applied in a real world scenario at 9fin.
