What You’ll Be Doing

The Platform Cloud Engineer at Preply is an AWS specialist who helps us run our cloud based Platform. In this role, you will bring deep knowledge and expertise to participate in system design, regular maintenance but also address operational issues as Preply scales its user base. You will also help improve cost efficiency and be up to date with latest developments and how the company can benefit from them. You will partner up with other teams to leverage their expertise and deliver projects successfully.

• Own the availability and performance of mission-critical services and build automation to prevent problems recurrence.
• Improve the system’s scalability, observability, and alerting.
• Build tooling to improve our platform and accelerate the overall software development.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Collaborate with product teams to help them tackle technical issues and design new systems.
• Strengthen credibility with the quality of the team's technical execution.
• Follow the best FinOps practices.
• Participate in on-call rotation across the team.

What You Need To Succeed

• Expertise in designing, building, maintaining and troubleshooting high traffic distributed systems in the cloud.
• Strong experience in AWS services and infrastructure, particularly with Kubernetes, Load Balancers, Kafka, Networking.
• Strong experience in CDN, Edge Ingress setup.
• Highly proficient with Terraform.
• Experience in implementing observability and alerting.
• Proficiency with production troubleshooting.
• Business-orientation and data-driven approach.
• Willingness to participate on paid on-call rotations.
• Strong communication skills. Minimum B2 English level.
• Nice to have: coding experience, knowledge of modern web frameworks; SQL and relational DBs.
