You will work across multiple products and stacks:

• Legacy platform: JavaScript + Vue (frontend) and PHP Laravel (backend)
• Newer products: Vue + Astro (frontend) and Node.js + Express (backend)

This is a role for someone who:

• Enjoys end-to-end ownership
• Is comfortable making tradeoffs explicit
• Can work with evolving product definitions
• Cares about how things behave in production, not just in code reviews

You’ll collaborate closely with product and domain experts, and help us continuously improve our systems over time.

This role requires high autonomy, strong engineering judgement, and comfort operating with incomplete or evolving product definitions.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience working across backend and frontend systems.
• Strong experience with at least one of: TypeScript or Python. Familiarity with multiple stacks is a plus.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, tradeoffs, and system design.
• Experience building and operating production systems end to end, including API design, cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), CI/CD pipelines, relational databases, automated testing, and using analytics and observability to understand system behavior in production.
• Comfortable working in environments with evolving requirements.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building systems before and after the introduction of AI assisted coding tools.
• Practical experience using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar to improve productivity, while still being able to reason, debug, and design systems independently.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional training with strong foundations in software engineering.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to have (but not required)

• Experience building AI assisted workflows or agents using automation tools such as n8n, or similar orchestration platforms, in production contexts.
• Exposure to AI driven or data intensive systems, including integrating LLMs into production environments (tool calling, workflows, guards, failure handling).
• Experience tracking and monitoring data.
• Experience working in early stage or fast growing startups.
• Evidence of ownership outside of work (side projects, open source, entrepreneurial efforts).
• Any familiarity with power electronics, electromagnetics, or physics based simulation.

Interview process

Our interview process is intentionally simple and focused on real engineering work.

1. Introductory call (30 min)
2. A short conversation to introduce Frenetic, align on the role and expectations, and understand your background, motivations, and mutual fit.
3. Working style discussion and technical deep-dive (1.5 hours)
4. A comprehensive session with the hiring manager, product, and senior engineer covering system design, architectural tradeoffs, how you approach ambiguous problems, ownership, and collaboration. Focused on real reasoning rather than trivia or algorithm puzzles.

Interviews will be conducted in English. A practical, working level of English is sufficient; we care about clarity and collaboration, not perfection.
