The Role Black Semiconductor is seeking a highly skilled Senior Equipment Engineer – RIE (Reactive Ion Etch) (f/m/d) to join our semiconductor FAB team in Aachen, Germany. In this role, you will specialize in Etch cluster systems and play a key part in the installation, maintenance, and optimization of critical equipment, directly impacting our manufacturing efficiency, yield, and overall product quality.

The ideal candidate will take a pivotal role in advancing our Etch capabilities, driving tool performance, and contributing to the success of our semiconductor manufacturing operations

To join our team, you should be excited to

• Execute and support the equipment installation and process qualification activities for the Etch area
• Work with suppliers and internal Black Semiconductor stakeholders to develop maintenance plans
• Collaborate with the technical engineering teams to drive equipment and process improvements
• Mentor technical engineering team members and train less-experienced personnel on Etch equipment and best practices
• Develop and implement Continuous Improvement (CIP) plans focused on improving OEE

Your Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with 200mm and/or 300mm Dry Etch equipment, ideally LAM and TEL RIE platforms
• Experience with installation, start-up, qualification, and operation of RIE systems, including hands-on work with LAM, TEL, and AMAT tools; familiarity with ALE (Atomic Layer Etch) is a strong plus
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining sub- fab and support systems, including chillers, scrubbers, and high-vacuum pumps
• Strong motivation to lead CIP initiatives using 5S and Lean manufacturing methods
• A hands-on, proactive mindset suited to a fast-paced pilot-line environment
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English
