At Mainblades, we're redefining how airplanes get inspected. Our automatic drone system captures high-resolution images, detects defects using machine learning, and is being used at major airlines across the globe.

We've proven the concept. Now we're scaling, and that means taking things from "works well" to "works everywhere, every time." That's where you come in.

The challenge

Our system depends on a robust combination of off-the-shelf and custom electronic components to ensure safe and reliable automatic inspections. As Senior Electronics Engineer, you'll own the design and development of the electronic systems that make our drones work and be responsible for architecture all the way through to production readiness.

You won't just execute on specs handed to you. You'll dig into ambiguous problems, figure out what's actually needed, and drive solutions through to validated, field-ready hardware. You'll work closely with our hardware, software, and navigation teams to make sure your designs integrate cleanly and hold up in real-world conditions.

You will:

• Design end-to-end drone electronics: architecture, schematics, PCB layout, and bring-up for navigation, payload, and flight systems.
• Take designs from prototype through validation to production readiness, and own the quality of that entire path.
• Select and qualify components to meet performance, environmental, and reliability targets.
• Design custom interfaces (connectors, modules, adapters) and integrate them with the airframe and mechanical systems.
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware and low-level interfaces that bridge hardware and software.
• Plan and execute integration and testing (bench and field), driving safety and reliability improvements across the system.

Your work directly determines whether the drone can fly safely and capture the data our software relies on at scale and in the real world.

What we're looking for

You're an electronics engineer who's taken systems from prototype to production and knows what it takes to keep them running in demanding environments. You don't wait for someone to fully define the problem before you start working on it. You ask the right questions, make reasonable assumptions, and course-correct as you learn more.

What matters most:

• Solid experience designing and testing electronic systems using both COTS and custom components.
• PCB design, prototyping, debugging, and hands-on lab work, you're comfortable at the bench.
• Firmware development experience (e.g. STM32, Arduino, embedded Linux).
• Track record of scaling systems from lab prototypes to deployed, reliable products.
• You communicate clearly, document your decisions, and collaborate well with software and mechanical engineers.
• You take ownership of your output quality - you don't rely on someone else to catch your mistakes.

Nice to have:

• Experience with hardware integration in mobile or robotic platforms (drones, robotics, automotive).
• Familiarity with drone platforms, safety-critical hardware, or EMI/ESD best practices.
• Experience working with external suppliers on production-quality hardware.
