is seeking an experienced
Senior Civil Engineer / Technical Design Lead: Water & Municipal Infrastructure
on behalf of its client.
Technical expertise:
Provide knowledge and experience-based competency to perform discipline-specific consultancy services, including the design of bulk water supply, sewerage reticulation, pump stations, reservoirs, and water treatment works. Lead the detailed design of civil services for township developments and municipal infrastructure.
Perform and review complex hydraulic designs, surge analyses, and pipe network modelling. Oversee and execute detailed designs using Civil 3D and ensure compliance with SANS and municipal standards.
Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in and outside the company in the disciplines required to deliver civil services for township developments and municipal infrastructure projects. This includes the link with data science and digital services, including AI.
Prepare technical analyses, advice and reports on discipline-specific content that meet the Company’s and Clients’ requirements.
Client engagement and Business development.
Actively explore opportunities to apply a Digital Way of Working in the civil services for township developments and municipal infrastructure projects, identify internal and external needs and organise the efforts to automate and standardise processes or make them more efficient, and
Raise brand awareness of the company’s expertise in the relevant sectors.
Capacity Building:
Be a team player and contribute to the skill development and transfer of knowledge of the Water AG team by mentoring Junior and mid-level professionals.
Actively share your knowledge and experience with your team and mentor.
Create a learning environment where colleagues are trained and can be developed into independent technical resources.
Act as a technical mentor to Junior Technicians and Candidate Engineers, specifically regarding Civil 3D best practices and design governance.
Proposals and Project Management:
Lead preparation of proposals and tenders.
Act as project manager for civil services for township developments, municipal infrastructure projects or other projects.
Job Requirements
Minimum Required Qualification:
BSc / BEng in Civil Engineering (Honours or Masters advantageous).

Mandatory professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
A project management qualification and registration are advantageous.
10+ years of experience in municipal engineering, water infrastructure design, and construction management within the consulting engineering sector.
Have technical and practical engineering skills in the relevant disciplines (e.g. civil services for township developments and municipal infrastructure). Familiarity with the design of bulk water supply, sewerage reticulation, pump stations, reservoirs, and water treatment works.
High-level competence in Autodesk Civil 3D for civil services design.
International working experience, i.e. ability to work on international projects and with multi-disciplinary teams
Have a track record of successful consultancy, engineering and project management activities.
Be creative and proactive to identify issues and find the best engineering solutions.
Be able to deliver high-quality, accurate and timely work consistently.
