RESTORED CLOUD INC. β Restored Cloud builds AI-powered platforms for the U.S. Department of Defense. We create systems that generate realistic synthetic network traffic and user behavior for military cyber training environments β enabling operators to train against enterprise-scale activity that is indistinguishable from the real thing.
Senior Backend / Infrastructure Engineer
Location : Remote (U.S.) β periodic on-site at government integration facilities
Employment : Full-Time
Clearance : U.S. Citizen required; ability to obtain Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
Compensation : $100,000 β $150,000 + Equity
THE ROLE
You will own the core engine that drives our platform: a containerized Python service that produces realistic network traffic, system logs, and enterprise artifacts at scale. Your work ships as containers running in air-gapped, VMware-based environments with zero internet access. You define the production architecture and make it run reliably in the most constrained deployment environments in the federal space.
WHAT YOU OWN
β’ Core generator service (Python): the engine that drives all persona behaviors, state transitions, and artifact production
β’ Container orchestration: Docker Compose for development, Kubernetes manifests for production deployment on government infrastructure
β’ Telemetry export pipeline: syslog (RFC 5424), NDJSON file exports, log forwarder configuration, and search index pipelines
β’ Infrastructure hardening: STIG/CIS compliance, FIPS-validated cryptography, offline dependency management, SBOM generation
β’ CI/CD pipeline: deterministic, reproducible builds with all dependencies pre-packaged for offline registries
β’ Performance optimization: CPU-first design, NUMA-aware threading, rate governors, and micro-batching within strict compute budgets
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
β’ 5+ years backend engineering with Python as a primary language
β’ Deep experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes in production (not just local dev)
β’ Strong Linux systems knowledge: systemd, networking, syslog, filesystem pipelines
β’ Experience with log and data pipelines (rsyslog, Filebeat, Logstash, Fluentd, or similar)
β’ Familiarity with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for indexing and querying
β’ Comfortable working in constrained, air-gapped environments where dependencies must be pre-staged
β’ U.S. citizenship required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
β’ VMware vSphere and/or Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) experience
β’ Software-defined networking (NSX-T or similar)
β’ NIST 800-53 / 800-171 compliance experience or ATO process familiarity
β’ Prior DoD or Intelligence Community infrastructure work
β’ Deterministic/reproducible builds and offline package management
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF
β Frontend-heavy developers β our UI is a viewer, not the product
β Cloud-native engineers who rely on AWS/GCP managed services β everything here is on-prem and air-gapped
β Engineers who need a fully defined architecture before they can start building β you will be defining it
