About The Role Senior Backend Engineer on the Sophea platform team. You will shape the architecture behind enterprise-grade AI products, strengthen reliability, and enable engineering teams to ship faster with confidence. Significant technical autonomy. Not a maintenance role.

What You Will Do

Design and evolve backend services in Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript across the platform
Identify bottlenecks and propose pragmatic simplifications
Own critical services end-to-end: design, implementation, production, monitoring
Improve developer experience: local dev, CI/CD, testing, documentation
Establish engineering standards for service design, API contracts, and operational readiness
Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and leading by example

What You Will Need

6-8+ years of professional backend engineering experience
Strong expertise in Python (async, FastAPI or similar) and working proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js
Deep experience with PostgreSQL (query optimization, schema design, migrations)
Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
Track record building and operating production-critical distributed systems
Architectural judgment: knowing when to scale and when to keep things simple

Nice to have

Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
AI/ML products or LLM-powered applications
Event-driven architectures and async processing
Developer tooling or platform engineering
