Groundhawk is looking for a Senior Android Developer to develop and evolve our core 3D scanning Android application. The application is central to Groundhawk’s solution — it’s where field workers capture the data that feeds our machine learning pipelines and becomes the trusted source of underground infrastructure information.
This is a technical ownership role. You will lead architecture decisions, work close to sensors and hardware, and ensure reliable, high-performance data capture in demanding construction environments.

YOUR MISSION
Your mission is to own and advance the Android platform that powers Groundhawk’s field data capture. You will build robust, high-performance 3D scanning capabilities that work reliably in real-world conditions, where accuracy, usability and offline functionality are essential.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop the 3D scanning Android application together with the full solution R&D team
- Design features that function reliably in construction environments with limited connectivity
- Build real-time positioning systems, integrating GNSS, IMU data and custom hardware
- Implement on-device ML and computer vision for real-time processing
- Design and maintain offline-first architecture with intelligent data synchronization
- Build intuitive UX for field use, including gloves, bright sunlight and time-critical workflows
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years of professional Android development experience
- Expert-level Kotlin skills and deep understanding of Android SDK internals
- Experience with hardware integration (Bluetooth, USB, serial communication)
- Strong understanding of sensor APIs: GPS/GNSS, accelerometer, gyroscope, camera
- Proven experience building offline-first, performance-optimized mobile applications
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical systems
It is considered a strong advantage if you have:
- Experience with GNSS / RTK positioning, computer vision or 3D capture
- Experience with on-device ML inference and sensor fusion
- Familiarity with iOS development
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot)
