This role requires deep expertise in large language models, medical AI applications, and safety-critical system design. You'll work at the forefront of AI healthcare technology, designing and implementing sophisticated AI agents that provide diagnostic reasoning, chronic disease management, and seamless healthcare data processing while maintaining the highest standards of medical safety and accuracy.

What You'll Build We're tackling fundamental challenges in AI-delivered healthcare. You'll work on:

Core AI Architecture

• Multi-agent consensus systems where specialized models debate cases before reaching conclusions
• RAG pipelines processing thousands of clinical guidelines we've rebuilt for LLM consumption
• Real-time inference optimization handling millions of medical consultations daily
• Custom AI workflows for domain-specific medical reasoning

Clinical Data Systems

• NLP pipelines extracting structured data from patient conversations while maintaining HIPAA compliance
• Integrations with QHINs for automated EHR data retrieval and reconciliation
• Intelligent triage systems routing between AI and human providers based on complexity scoring
• Documentation generation matching provider-specific protocols and coding requirements

Safety & Scale Infrastructure

• Emergency detection with sub-second escalation to human oversight
• Validation layers ensuring 99%+ treatment plan accuracy against clinical standards
• Distributed systems handling high peak loads and a rapidly growing user base
• Fail-safe mechanisms for critical path decisions in regulated environments

Required Qualifications Education & Background

• Computer Science degree OR exceptional work experience demonstrating equivalent technical depth

• Hard science degrees (Physics, Mathematics, Engineering) are also welcomed with a strong technical foundation

• Strong preference for candidates who have started their own company, been a founding engineer, or worked extensively in startup environments

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve complex problems without hand-holding, while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

Technical Expertise

• 7+ years of experience in engineering with expertise in large language models and generative AI
• Deep expertise with OpenAI GPT models, Anthropic Claude, Meta LLaMA, and other foundation models
• Strong background in prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and model optimization for specialized domains
• Experience building production AI systems with real-time inference requirements
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and modern AI development frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience building AI systems for healthcare, medical, or life sciences applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflows, or healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)
• Experience with medical AI safety, bias detection, and fairness in healthcare applications
• Background in natural language processing for domain-specific applications
• Experience working with medical professionals or in regulated healthcare environments
• Published research in AI/ML, particularly in healthcare or safety-critical applications
• Experience with seed/Series A stage companies in AI or healthcare
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related technical field
