SoftQuantus is hiring: Quantum Research Engineer (VQA/NISQ • Benchmarks • Evidence) — Equity-first
SoftQuantus is a European deep-tech company building the operational intelligence layer for quantum computing—focused on making quantum workflows reproducible, auditable, and deployable across heterogeneous backends (QPU, simulator, cloud, and HPC).
This role is designed for someone who can translate near-term quantum reality (NISQ) into credible benchmarks, rigorous methodology, and verifiable evidence artifacts.
Core mission (first 90 days)
- Deliver 2–3 reproducible benchmark pipelines (e.g., GHZ-style correlators, VQE toy chemistry, QAOA MaxCut) with clear methodology and structured outputs
- Define and implement an evidence-first benchmarking spec: what metadata is captured, what is signed, and what is necessary for repeatability
- Build a “gold demo” that generates audit-ready experiment artifacts (inputs + context + outputs)
Responsibilities
- Implement benchmark workloads with strong engineering discipline (clean code, tests, experiment tracking)
- Design metrics that reflect operational reality: shots, queue time, stability, drift sensitivity, and repeatability
- Collaborate with platform engineering on APIs, metadata schema, and evidence bundle structure
- Support technical narratives: documentation, minimal technical notes, and reproducibility guidelines
Ideal profile
- Hands-on with VQE/QAOA/VQAs, measurement strategy, shot budgeting, and NISQ constraints
- Experience with Qiskit / PennyLane / Braket / Cirq or comparable toolchains
- Strong Python engineering practices (tests, packaging, reproducibility)
- Bonus: experience with error mitigation, transpilation constraints, or publishing benchmark methodology
