The
RPA Developer
will design, build and maintain automation solutions using UiPath to streamline finance operations and integrate intelligent document‑processing tools, such as Rossum’s ELIS. The role involves identifying automation opportunities, enhancing existing workflows, managing exceptions and supporting the expansion of automation across the organisation. The developer will collaborate with finance and IT teams, ensure alignment with security and IT standards and contribute to building a scalable, resilient internal automation capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the identification, design and implementation of automation solutions across finance operations, focusing on high-volume, manual processes
- Collaborate with finance and IT teams to prioritise automation opportunities and ensure alignment with business needs
- Develop and maintain RPA workflows using tools such as UIPath, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency
- Support and enhance existing automated processes, including those transitioned from third-party providers
- Monitor automation performance, manage exceptions and ensure continuous improvement of workflows
Process Automation Scope
- Automate file placement into document management systems based on structured naming conventions
- Transfer structured data from Word templates into ERP systems (e.g. 3e MMF and CMOF forms)
- Execute bulk data uploads from spreadsheets for matter openings and updates
- Manage third-party data imports and automate exception handling (e.g. Emburse, HM Land Registry)
- Automate expense claim approvals via web applications, including data extraction and status updates
- Integrate invoice processing tools (e.g. Rossum, ELIS) with ERP workflows using RPA
Strategic Objectives
- Expand RPA into fee-earning and operational areas, supporting scalable deployment across the firm
- Build and mentor an internal RPA team to ensure resilience and eliminate single points of failure
- Support team certification and promote best practices in automation delivery
- Ensure automation solutions are compatible with future ERP transitions (e.g. to Enterprise 3e)
- Drive adoption of digital agents and intelligent automation across the wider organisation
Requirements
Technical Expertise
- Strong IT background with familiarity across infrastructure, cloud, and application stacks
- Experience working with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus or Tenable (advantageous)
- Strong understanding of established security standards, including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, CIS Benchmarks, and the NIST Cyber Security Framework
- Good understanding of ITIL practices
- Security or technical certifications (advantageous)

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in engaging across technical and non-technical audiences
Project & Delivery Skills
- Demonstrated project drive: ability to independently analyse problems, define measurable deliverables, and track progress against objectives
- Experience coordinating small-scale work packages, changes, or projects within infrastructure and application environments
- Comfortable working autonomously to deliver high-quality outcomes
