Position Overview
As the Robotics Technician at Glidance, you will assemble, test, and maintain our intelligent personal mobility devices while ensuring every prototype and field unit meets our quality and performance standards. You’ll work across hardware, firmware, and system diagnostics—running test plans, identifying issues, preparing units for pilots, and maintaining a high-functioning lab environment. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys precision, problem-solving, and supporting a fast-moving engineering team building a first-of-its-kind product.
Responsibilities
Device Assembly & System Testing
· Assemble, inspect, and validate robotic hardware for prototypes and small production runs.
· Perform system-level diagnostics and functional testing on devices during intake and before shipment.
· Run test plans to verify sensors, motors, connectivity, power systems, and firmware status.
Debugging & Troubleshooting
· Capture logs, reproduce issues, and identify whether problems originate in hardware, firmware, or configuration.
· Work with engineers to triage electro-mechanical or system integration issues.
· Conduct firmware flashing, calibration, and configuration tasks.
Lab & Workflow Management
· Maintain parts inventory and lab so components, tools, and equipment are findable and adequately stocked.
· Build and support test rigs for durability, performance, and user-simulation testing.
· Ensure devices are repaired, calibrated, and ready for pilot walks, demos, and engineering use.
Documentation & QA Process
· Own the system of record for the Glidance device fleet: device tracking, version information, and known issues.
· Record test results, diagnostic findings, and repair notes with high accuracy.
· Contribute to test procedures, build checklists, and continuous improvement of QA processes.
· Help develop standard operating procedures for intake/outtake testing and device readiness.
Qualifications
· Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
· 2+ years of experience working in a robotics, hardware, or R&D lab environment.
· Skilled with hand tools, soldering, wiring, and basic mechanical assembly.
· Experience reading schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
· Comfort with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and diagnostic tools.
· Familiarity with basic software tools: flashing firmware, running scripts, collecting logs, or using command-line utilities.
· Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail in testing and documentation.
· Collaborative, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Why Join Glidance?
· Be part of a mission-driven company that makes a real difference in people's lives.
· Work as part of a talented and passionate team at the forefront of AI and robotics.
· Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of personal robots.
