WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

This is a high-impact role where you will be the core link between hardware design and low-level software, directly shaping the capabilities of the Stretch platform. You will drive multi-disciplinary efforts across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.

Platform & SDK Excellence:

• Lead the development of the high-quality, maintainable Stretch Body Python SDK, setting best practices for unit testing, version control, and comprehensive documentation.
• Design and implement sensorimotor control loops and behaviors to guarantee the robot’s safe, responsive, and high-performance operation.

System Integration & Debugging Mastery:

• Rapidly bring up and maintain complex mechatronic prototypes, diagnosing and resolving deep-level issues across sensors, actuators, and controllers.
• Become the expert in low-level Linux systems, tackling package and device driver challenges in C++, C, and Python to maximize hardware potential.

Manufacturing & Quality Assurance:

• Develop essential calibration and qualification tools, ensuring every robot rolling off the line meets world-class standards.
• Establish and monitor key performance metrics to guide product reliability and identify proactive technical mitigation strategies.

Your Expertise

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in designing, developing, and integrating mechatronic systems
• Experience with system integration, development, and testing on physical robots
• Proficient in robotics development (e.g. kinematics, dynamics, control theory, modelling, calibration)
• Experience with communication protocols like SPI, I2C, Ethernet, etc
• Experience with firmware development for Raspberry Pi and Arduino
• Proficiency in Python and Git
• Proficiency in CAD/Solidworks and rapid prototyping experience
• Proficiency in working with Linux tools, packages, and drivers
