About the Department
The Engineering Physics program at McMaster University is a dynamic hub where fundamental physics meets innovative engineering design. The program integrates rigorous training in physics, mathematics, and engineering with hands-on experience in advanced technologies such as materials and devices, photonics, biomedical, micro- and nano-systems, nuclear and quantum-enabled technologies. Students develop the skills to analyze, design, and build solutions that address complex challenges in areas spanning energy, computing, advanced materials, and emerging technologies. With a strong emphasis on problem-solving, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experiential learning, Engineering Physics provides a stimulating environment for its 250 undergraduate and 85 graduate students in a close-knit community.
About the Position
We are welcoming applications for the full-time position of Research Engineer (III). The incumbent will report to Dr. Leyla Soleymani and be responsible for developing and testing a wearable platform for biomarker analysis, collaboration and guiding team members in this area, preparing pitches and reports on this topic, and collaborating with external industry and government partners related to this project.
The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background in condition-based monitoring in a manufacturing and academic environment, with a demonstrated ability to advance research, direct outcomes, and apply results in industrial settings. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are also required for this role.

Under general direction, responsible for providing specialized, highly advanced, engineering services in a specific engineering field or discipline to design, develop, and coordinate research or contract projects. Provides significant technical depth and expertise.
