About The Role We’re looking for a Staff React Engineer to join our SuperApp engineering group, focusing on the Zable website as a key way customers discover and use our products.
This is the team that owns and improves core customer journeys on the Zable website, from discovery and eligibility through to application and self service, working closely with product, design and backend engineers across multiple domains.
There’s a lot to do as we launch new products, bring Zable to new audiences and continually improve performance and reliability, and you will take ownership for delivering meaningful web features, guiding implementation choices and helping the team ship high quality experiences.
Our Tech Stack PHP 8, Symfony 6&7, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, React & React Native, TypeScript, MobX, Redux, Stylus and SASS, Jenkins (we deploy to production as soon as we finish a feature), Behat, PHPUnit, Jest, Selenium, Maestro and Detox.
What You’ll Be Doing/impact On Objectives
What We’re Looking For
Deep experience building and scaling React applications in production, with strong knowledge of TypeScript and modern web engineering practices.
Experience working with product owners to break down business requirements into deliverable tasks, estimate complexity and plan work across a team.
Ability to look at a design or outline specification and quickly identify technical challenges, propose alternative approaches where useful, and explain trade offs clearly.
Passion for building high performing teams, including organising work streams with product partners, looking for ways to improve team flow, and encouraging individual accountability for delivery.
Experience mentoring and supporting other engineers, alongside engineering managers, to encourage their personal and professional growth and enable them to succeed.
Track record of leading on automated testing and quality, taking a pragmatic approach to improvements and setting the standard for testing practices in your team.
Comfortable identifying and assessing technical debt in web systems, and a clear voice for prioritising code and architecture improvements alongside feature work when the opportunity arises.
Awareness of accessibility needs for web users and familiarity with approaches and tools that help teams meet accessibility guidelines and best practices.
Nice to have, not required
Experience leading web teams that have built or worked on products which scaled to very large user bases, and applying those lessons in new contexts.
Experience with frameworks used for larger web applications, for example NextJS or similar stacks.
Experience in scaling React based platforms across multiple teams, with shared components, tooling and standards.
