About the Role
Job Title: QEC Applications Scientist
Location: Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
Employment Type: Full-time

Salary: £62,000 - £75,000 DOE + bonus + equity
As quantum computing enters a new phase—the ‘QEC era’—marked by significant advancements in quantum error correction, Riverlane’s customers are integrating Deltaflow with their existing quantum computing control systems, demonstrating the first steps toward error-correcting capability.
Responsibilities
As QEC Applications Scientist, you will:
- Support Riverlane’s customers and partners on their QEC experimental journey, starting from their first QEC results
- Enable UK and Europe-based customers with varied qubit architectures to achieve successful QEC demonstrations using Riverlane’s quantum error correction system (Deltaflow)
- Use Deltaflow and Riverlane’s software tools for rapid QEC experiment prototyping in collaboration with customers
- Present QEC integration and experimentation results externally, including at conferences and through publications
- Influence Deltaflow’s product development by advocating for customer needs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create educational content that accelerates new QEC customer journeys
- Champion a culture of sharing QEC success stories to benefit the wider QEC community
Requirements
What we need:
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, experimental physics (or related field)
- Proven experience with quantum error correction or related research and experimentation experience (in industry or academia)
- Experience with computational tools for scientific research in quantum computing (or related field)
- Familiarity with qubit architectures and considerations for NISQ and QEC experiments
- Ability and willingness to travel within UK and Europe to customer and partner sites
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- A passion for learning and a curious, solution-oriented mindset
Even better if you have:
- Strong track record of working collaboratively with research and product development teams
- Experience in stim (strongly preferred) and/or other QEC tools in a quantum computing experimental setting
- Familiarity with quantum error correction concepts and protocols
