As the Corporate Communications Specialist for the AI Robot Association (AIRoA), you will be responsible for a wide range of internal and external communications. Your key responsibilities will include planning, drafting, and distributing press releases; managing media relations; operating our website, newsletters, and social media channels; handling press inquiries; and supporting PR activities for events and conferences.
You will be expected to translate highly advanced and specialized themes—such as AI- and robot-foundation models and the robot data ecosystem—into clear, compelling language and narratives for diverse audiences, including companies, researchers, government agencies, and the general public in Japan and overseas. You will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing English materials for global communications.
【What Makes the “Public Relations (Corporate)” Role at AIRoA Unique】
Corporate communications at AIRoA is about conveying the value of a Japan-originated, national-level project to the world. AIRoA collects operational data from various types of robots and develops foundation models for robotics. As a NEDO-funded initiative, we are taking on an unprecedented challenge: developing foundational models and driving their global deployment with a large-scale R&D budget.
In this role, you will support this challenge from a communications perspective. As the “face” of a consortium that includes major corporations as well as universities and research institutions, you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders while leading our external communication efforts.
【The Appeal of Taking On This Challenge at AIRoA, Just as We Are Getting Started】
AIRoA was established at the end of 2024 as a general incorporated association and began full-scale operations in FY2025 with the goal of building a robot data ecosystem through the fusion of AI and robotics technologies. Leading Japanese companies have joined as full members, and numerous startups and research institutions are also participating.
We are very much in the phase of building the organization and its rules from the ground up, and there is significant room to shape our brand strategy, messaging, and communications processes. As an early member, you will experience the rare opportunity where your ideas and words directly become “the way things are” at the association.
【Other】
While remote work is possible, this role is primarily expected to be office-based.
Most of our engineers and researchers also work on-site, conducting research and development directly in front of the robots.
【About AIRoA】
AIRoA was established in December 2024 with two core objectives: “to revolutionize the technology of robot development through the fusion of robots and AI” and “to promote the use of robots in society.” While AI is rapidly advancing worldwide, the shortage of data in robot development has become a critical issue.
To address this challenge, we are running a national flagship project funded by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), with an investment of over JPY 20 billion.
AIRoA is driving a long-term project to develop foundation models for robotics and expand their use globally. To make this project a success, it is essential that we build strong recognition and trust in both academia and industry, and establish a clear position on the global stage as a Japan-led initiative.
To this end, we are newly hiring a Corporate Communications Specialist who will lead our overall PR activities, including international communications. We are looking for someone who can partner with us from the ground up—designing the framework and processes for communications and then putting them into operation in this newly launched organization.
Through your day-to-day work—such as managing press releases, social media channels, media interviews, and event PR—you will gain a deep understanding of AIRoA’s business, technologies, and stakeholders.
Building on this foundation, you will be involved in more strategic, upstream initiatives, including planning and executing an integrated domestic and global communications strategy, developing relationships with media, analysts, and partner companies, and establishing brand guidelines and messaging frameworks.
In the future, we expect you to take a leading role across all PR activities, driving your own initiatives and growing into a core member of the communications team.

Preferred Qualifications:
We currently operate out of a spacious office and research facility of over 1,000 m² located in the Ryutsu Center area. In this space, our business teams and engineering teams work in close collaboration, advancing both day-to-day operations and R&D with AI robots always close at hand. The facility is frequently visited not only by members of the AI Robot Association, but also by engineers and researchers from partner companies and representatives from member companies. As a result, it serves as a hub where diverse experts at the forefront of AI and robotics gather and interact.
Today, highly skilled engineers and researchers from around the world are part of our organization. Some members have even relocated from overseas to Japan to join our projects on site. We aim to build a globally open R&D organization where diverse talent, regardless of nationality or background, come together, inspire one another, and shape the future.
