About the Role:
We are seeking a
high-energy, proactive Program Manager
to join our team in support of the
U-2 Systems Program Office (SPO)
. In this role, you won't just be managing schedules; you will be a driving force behind the modernization of the "Dragon Lady," one of the Air Force's most vital intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets.
As a self-starter with a deep understanding of the
US Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition and technology development systems
, you will serve as the PM for a high-priority
avionics modernization project
. Beyond a single project, you will act as a catalyst for efficiency, delivering tangible Program Management and process improvement results across multiple initiatives within the SPO. You’ll bridge the gap between legacy sustainment and modern engineering, ensuring the U-2 remains mission-capable and technologically superior.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Avionics Modernization:
Orchestrate the end-to-end lifecycle of avionics and other upgrades, from requirement definition through integration, flight test, and fielding.
What We’re Looking For:
Preferred Skills:
Domain Expertise:
Prior experience with the U-2 platform or aircraft systems.
Process Ninja:
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement frameworks.
Technical Fluency:
Ability to "speak engineer"—understanding avionics architectures, software integration, and digital engineering to lead technical teams effectively.
Communication:
Exceptional ability to translate complex technical hurdles into actionable executive-level plans and act on those plans.
This is a high-impact opportunity to influence the future of a legendary aircraft program. If you are a PM who values
tangible results
over paperwork and
innovation
over "the way we've always done it," we want to talk to you.
Apply Agile at Scale:
Implement Agile development and engineering practices to accelerate the delivery of technological solutions, moving away from "waterfall" bottlenecks.
Navigate Acquisition Milestones:
Manage complex Air Force sustainment and modernization lifecycles, ensuring compliance with acquisition regulations while maintaining project velocity.
Drive Process Improvement:
Identify inefficiencies and implement measurable PM improvements to streamline workflows across multiple projects.
Stakeholder Synergy:
Act as the primary interface between the government, industry partners, and operational units to ensure alignment on technical requirements and delivery timelines.
Strategic Reporting:
Provide concise, data-driven briefings to senior leadership regarding project health, risk mitigation, and resource allocation.
High Energy & Initiative:
A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments and doesn't wait for instructions to solve problems.
Acquisition Expertise:
Extensive knowledge of the
DoD/Air Force acquisition system
Sustainment & Modernization Savvy:
Proven experience navigating the lifecycle of major weapons systems, specifically regarding sustainment and mid-life modernization.
Agile Mindset:
Demonstrated experience delivering technical solutions using
Agile, Scrum, or DevSecOps
methodologies within a federal or aerospace context.
Building Relationships with OEMs: Proven experience working collaboratively with OEMs to prioritize work, identify and effectively communicate issues, and jointly take ownership of delivering solutions.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field (PMP or DAWIA Level II/III certification is highly preferred).
Security Clearance:
US Citizenship and an
Active Secret clearance
(Top Secret preferred).
