About the Role
Octobotics Tech is developing advanced robotic systems for industrial inspection and automation. We are looking for a hands-on Production Engineer who can bridge design, manufacturing, and assembly to ensure efficient production of robotic systems and mechanical assemblies.
This role requires someone comfortable working in a startup environment, managing vendors, coordinating with design teams, and ensuring smooth production of complex electro-mechanical systems.
We are looking for engineers with a strong hands-on approach—someone who enjoys building, assembling, and troubleshooting machines on the shop floor, not just working behind a keyboard.
Production & Assembly
· Plan and manage production of robotic systems, crawlers, and mechanical assemblies.
· Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), production drawings, and assembly instructions.
· Supervise assembly of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
· Ensure quality control and testing before dispatch.
Manufacturing Coordination
· Coordinate with machine shops, sheet metal vendors, and fabrication partners.
· Manage outsourced manufacturing and machining work.
· Ensure timely delivery of parts and assemblies.
· Optimize manufacturing processes to reduce cost and lead time.
Production Planning
· Develop production schedules and work instructions.
· Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and consumables.
· Track manufacturing progress and resolve bottlenecks.
Quality & Documentation
· Implement quality inspection procedures for machined and fabricated parts.
· Maintain production documentation and revision control.
· Ensure adherence to design specifications and tolerances.
Cross-Team Collaboration
· Work closely with design engineers, electronics team, and software team.
· Provide feedback to improve design for manufacturability (DFM).
· Support prototype builds and field deployments.
Required Skills
· Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication and assembly
· Experience with machining, sheet metal, welding, and fabrication processes
· Knowledge of BOM management and production planning
· Familiarity with robotic systems, electromechanical assemblies, or automation equipment
· Ability to manage vendors and production timelines.
Preferred Skills
· Experience in robotics, industrial equipment, or manufacturing startups
· Knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / AutoCAD)
· Experience with quality control and inspection tools
· Understanding of DFM and DFA principles
Qualifications
· B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Mechatronics
· 2–5 years experience in manufacturing or production engineering
Benefits
· Opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotic inspection systems
· Fast-paced startup environment with high ownership
· Hands-on experience building real industrial robots
