About the Role

Overview:
This role is primarily open to candidates currently located in, and with working rights to Germany (preferably Munich, Berlin, or Dresden).

Responsibilities:

• Analyze RISC-V processor designs at the architectural and microarchitectural levels to determine security vulnerabilities.
• Characterize potential risk levels and suggest practical mitigations, including hardware and software countermeasures.
• Analyze the latest published attacks to determine their impact on Codasip processor designs, including modeling and practical implementation on real hardware.
• Collaborate with CPU architects, verification teams, and CPU designers to understand low-level hardware design and suggest countermeasures.

Requirements:

What you need:

• Proven experience in processor security analysis.
• Low-level programming experience (C, assembly language, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of microarchitectural attacks (e.g., transient execution attacks, cache attacks, side-channel attacks, fault injection attacks, etc.).
• Experience with in-order and out-of-order processors.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A flexible and adaptable attitude to work.
• A desire to learn and positively influence technical direction.

What you might have:

• Experience with RISC-V processors.
• Previous experience working with academia.
• Experience with formal security verification.
• Knowledge of advanced security countermeasures such as CHERI.
