Opal Australian Paper is an industry-leading paper manufacturing business. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer to join us at the Maryvale paper mill.

In this role you will provide technical, process and production support to the Power, Recovery and Wastewater operations, as well as identify and implement improvements.

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Provide sound technical advice and support whilst working with production, engineering and maintenance teams
• Ensure a strong focus on environmental compliance, efficiency and cost reduction
• Perform root cause analysis on relevant equipment, systems & procedures
• Collaborating with internal teams (such as operators & maintenance teams) to assist in troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions

For this role you will have:

• A Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Essential
• Experience identifying and implementing improvements across industrial sites
• Previous experience working with some or all of these: kilns, recovery boilers, steam turbines, heat transfer, evaporators and water pumps
• Strong communication skills – ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in using PARCview (or similar data analysis tools/ systems) to identify trends
• A continuous improvement and safety-centric mindset
• Intermediate (or above) Microsoft Excel skills
