Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Research Project Manager / Proposal Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in both the management of EU-funded research projects and internally funded company R&D and innovation activities , as well as in the preparation of competitive research proposals , primarily within Horizon Europe and European Defence Fund (EDF) frameworks.

This is a strategic position that combines project management excellence , grant writing expertise , and scientific understanding , supporting NovaMechanics’ leadership in high-impact research and innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Writing & Proposal Development

• Identify and monitor relevant funding opportunities (e.g. Horizon Europe Health Cluster, Advanced Materials, EDF).
• Lead or support consortium building , proposal coordination, drafting, and submission.
• Formulate innovative project concepts aligned with funding calls and NovaMechanics’ scientific and technological expertise.
• Develop detailed work plans, budgets, impact sections, and implementation strategies in line with EU funding requirements.

Project Management

• Manage day-to-day activities of EU-funded research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe, EDF), as well as internally funded company R&D and innovation activities, ensuring alignment between project execution, product development, and NovaMechanics’ strategic business objectives.
• Oversee project timelines, deliverables, milestones, and reporting obligations to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary and international project teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Draft technical reports, project deliverables, and presentations.
• Represent NovaMechanics in project meetings, workshops, reviews, and conferences.

Research & Communication

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across healthcare, materials science, data science, engineering, and ethics.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications , dissemination materials, and project communication outputs related to project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Materials Science); a PhD is a strong asset and will be considered a significant advantage for the role .
• Minimum 3 years of experience in EU-funded project management and grant writing.
• Strong familiarity with Horizon Europe frameworks (e.g. Health Cluster, Advanced Materials, EDF).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English .
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of WordPress or other website-building platforms .

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate studies or demonstrated expertise in data science, AI/ML , healthcare or materials science, or ontology development .
• Proven track record of successful EU-funded research proposals .
• Hands-on experience in project coordination and technology or platform development .
