Platform Engineer (m/f/d) The Role

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Platform Engineer to take a central role in building and operating our infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and backend services. In this role, you will be the backbone of our platform, ensuring our services are scalable, reliable, and secure on our European cloud infrastructure.

This is a high-impact role where you will have significant autonomy. You will be responsible for both building new features and keeping the lights on. We value a "you build it, you run it" philosophy, and you'll have the opportunity to work across the stack, from our Kubernetes clusters to our Python backend.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and operate our cloud infrastructure on a European cloud provider, with a focus on Kubernetes.
• Take ownership of the services you build, with hands-on operational responsibility for the entire platform. This includes monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning—we are a small team without a separate ops department.
• Develop and manage our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Helm .
• Automate, manage, and optimize our CI/CD pipelines for all services.
• Contribute to the development of our backend services written in Python (FastAPI, Django) .
• Actively contribute to key Open-source projects that our platform relies on.

Our Tech Stack & What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with strong hands-on experience, particularly in the following areas:

• Essential Experience:
• Kubernetes: Deep, hands-on experience managing and operating production workloads.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform and Helm is a must.
• CI/CD: Proven experience building and maintaining automated pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Circle CI).
• Python: Strong proficiency, with professional experience in web frameworks like FastAPI or Django .
• Containerization: Expertise with Docker for building and deploying applications.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with a major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and a strong interest in working with European alternatives.
• Ideal Experience (Nice-to-Have):
• Experience with systems design and software architecture for scalable services.
• Open Source Contribution: A track record of contributing to Open-source projects is highly valued.
• Frontend Familiarity: Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework like React or Svelte.
• Databases: Experience with PostgreSQL .
• Observability: Experience with monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or the ELK stack, SIEM Tools.
• Security: A strong understanding of cloud and application security principles (our platform uses RBAC and token-based auth).
