Role Description
Bioscan Research is seeking a full-time Optical Design Engineer / Consultant to to support the development of a compact wearable optical module for a medical sensing application. The role involves supporting the design, miniaturisation, and integration of transmitter and receiver optical components into a wearable form factor.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design of compact optical assemblies
- Assist in component selection and optical layout optimization
- Coordinate with electronics, mechanical, and product design teams
- Support prototype development and testing
- Provide recommendations for manufacturable and scalable designs
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Optical Design and familiarity with tools like Zemax, Code V, or similar software
- Experience in Design Engineering and Product Design, including prototype development and system optimisation
- Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering, including tolerance analysis and mechanical integration of optical components
- Competence in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modelling and simulation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
- Preferred experience in medical device design or regulatory compliance
- Effective communication and project management skills
