Job Summary:

They are seeking a Research Data Scientist to lead and perform human factors research activities, requiring independent work and collaboration with teams to assess human performance data. The role involves planning and conducting research projects, statistical analysis, and effective communication of findings.
Responsibilities:
• Work effectively and autonomously on complex, time-sensitive projects/tasks with limited technical direction
• Support multiple research tasks and task teams to:
• Assist with developing research protocols and IRB documentation
• Assist with experimental design, implement experimental procedures, and troubleshoot
• Structure and maintain complex research database, verify accuracy and validity of data
• Manipulate and analyze data, as well as perform and interpret high-level statistical analyses
• Complete all aspects of literature reviews: define appropriate search strategies, compile pertinent information and findings, and provide guidance for developing relevant research strategies
• Contribute to project-related technical reports and manuscripts
• Develop summary reports/presentations and present work to research sponsors, peer groups, and industry partners at conferences, as required
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• A government contract requires this position to be restricted to US citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a US citizen or legal permanent resident in order to qualify.
• This position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust to be considered.
• Tasks required by this position include the ability to organize, lead, and perform human factors research activities in accordance with the regulatory agency requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration.
• Position requires the ability to work independently with minimal oversite, work as a member of a team, and as a task lead.
• This position requires planning, preparation, and conduct of human factors research projects to quantify and assess human performance data in a variety of laboratory or field conditions or from existing data.
• Position requires ability to identify appropriate statistical analyses, perform analyses, and interpret and summarize findings.
• Position requires good verbal and oral presentation communication skills, and good technical writing ability.
• Candidate must have demonstrated success working in a time-sensitive, teaming environment with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
• Applicants must furnish positive evidence of having performed relevant, related research.
• Master level degree in related field PLUS Minimum 3 years related work experience required.
• Related 3 years work experience may be interchangeable with related field PhD program education.
• Related fields include but not limited to: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Applied Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, or similar.
• Expertise in Statistics for the Social Sciences (SPSS) package.
• Expertise in R, RStudio statistical analyses package.
• Ability to scope, organize, and manage project requirements.
• Ability to select and perform appropriate statistical analyses for research data.
• Ability to interpret and summarize results of statistical analyses.
• Ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and as a team lead.
• Ability to perform literature reviews and write annotated bibliographies/results reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and oral presentation).
Preferred:
• Experience with project management.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python (with NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib), machine learning, and/or building automated analytical systems.
• Experience with motion tracking, eye tracking data collection.
• Experience with augmented and/or virtual reality research.
• Experience in aviation-specific human factors, aviation, aerospace, flight deck, advanced vision systems, and/or simulators research.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
