THE ROLE
The MES Consultant will work directly with clients to design, configure, and deploy MES solutions across complex pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. This is a technically demanding, client-facing role where your expertise in MES systems and pharma manufacturing processes will be central to delivering measurable outcomes for our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Delivery:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering through to deployment and post-go-live support.
- Conduct workshops and working sessions with client stakeholders to define manufacturing process requirements and translate these into MES design and configuration decisions.
- Produce and review key project deliverables including functional specifications, design documents, configuration rationale, and validation documentation.
- Support clients in navigating change management and process re-engineering as part of MES adoption.
Technical Execution:
- Configure and deploy MES solutions across pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, compliant, and sustainable.
- Apply platform-agnostic expertise to assess client environments and recommend the most appropriate MES approach based on their processes, infrastructure, and regulatory context.
- Ensure all technical deliverables meet GxP, data integrity, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g. FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11).
- Troubleshoot technical issues during implementation and post-deployment, providing expert-level resolution.
Knowledge & Practice Contribution:
- Contribute to internal methodology and toolkits, sharing technical knowledge and lessons learned across the practice.
- Support pre-sales activities where required, including technical scoping, solution design input, and client presentations.
- Mentor junior team members on technical delivery and pharmaceutical manufacturing best practices.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Over five years of hands-on experience in MES implementation within a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- In-depth technical knowledge of at least one major MES platform, with the ability to work across multiple systems and advise clients in a platform-agnostic capacity.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including batch manufacturing, electronic batch records, and shop floor operations.
- Demonstrable experience producing GxP-compliant documentation, including functional specifications and validation deliverables.
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to MES in pharma, including FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships independently and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
