Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technician to support a fast-moving research and design effort. This role focuses on rapid iteration, physical prototyping, and experimental build-test-learn cycles in an evolving environment. The work is exploratory in nature and requires comfort with ambiguity, tight feedback loops, and frequent design changes.

The ideal candidate is a strong generalist—someone who enjoys building, modifying, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical and electromechanical systems with minimal overhead.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate & assemble experimental test rigs and infrastructure to support large prototype systems
• Perform basic electrical wiring and cable routing for power and instrumentation
• Troubleshoot structural, mechanical and electrical issues during testing
• Work closely with engineers and researchers to translate concepts into physical hardware quickly
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient fabrication and test environment

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication or engineering technician roles
• Practical experience using and maintaining typical prototyping tools (power tools, drill press, 3d printers, laser cutters, machining, welding)
• Experience with basic electrical wiring (soldering, wiring microcontrollers, power distribution, etc)
• Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and creating basic CAD models
• Experience working on large scale systems (e.g., installations, equipment, vehicles, structures, robotics, or similar)
• Background in R&D, lab, or prototype-heavy environments
