MatrixSpace is re-imagining radar, addressing the next generation of AI-enabled sensing so that objects can be identified and data collected at the edge in real-time. We have built the smallest, expendable radar system to provide new levels of integrated outdoor surveillance in 5D (the size, location, range and movement of objects in time) that makes it accessible to a broad range of public and private enterprises. Today we are already working with several branches across the Department of Defense. MatrixSpace’s ability to combine industry leading sensing, AI edge processing and RF communication in real-time is a major technology breakthrough with multiple vertical market applications. Designed and developed in the USA, MatrixSpace Radar offers robust situational awareness of both airborne and ground-based objects, regardless of lighting and weather conditions. This facilitates highly accurate drone detection and Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) capabilities, Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flight for uncrewed, autonomous and tethered aircraft, and overall general aviation safety. MatrixSpace Radar is a very low SWaP-C (size, weight, power and cost), requiring no additional infrastructure and is deployable in minutes without specialist training.

MatrixSpace delivers advanced AI-enabled portable C-UAS (counter drone) solutions that operate anywhere and can be rapidly moved. Its compact, ultra-low power radar systems provide persistent detection and classification for airspace, perimeter, and object monitoring in dynamic outdoor environments. MatrixSpace’s ability to combine industry leading RF sensing, AI edge processing and RF communication in real-time is a major technology breakthrough with multiple vertical market applications.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to create the mechanical solution of MatrixSpace products, including mechanical and thermal design of radar products. This position will be part of a growing, innovative product development team.
Responsibilities:
• Develop end-to-end mechanical solutions for MatrixSpace products, including PCB enclosures, heatsinks, electronics interfaces, mounting structures, and system assemblies.
• Own mechanical design from concept through production, including CAD, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and release of manufacturing drawings.
• Design components and assemblies to meet performance, environmental, reliability, safety, and robustness requirements.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles across manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, repeatable production.
• Create and maintain BOMs and mechanical documentation.
• Support rapid prototyping, pilot and production builds, resolving issues and driving design improvements.
• Execute mechanical verification and validation testing and author test reports.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and test teams.
• Contribute mechanical content to user manuals, installation guides, and work instructions.
Skills:
• Experience delivering production-ready mechanical solutions for electronics products.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software, including modeling and detailed drawing creation.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and hands-on tolerance stack-up analysis experience.
• Working knowledge of materials and design guidelines for machined parts, sheet metal, and plastics.
• Demonstrated application of DFM/DFA and structured problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with FEA (structural and/or thermal) is a plus.
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
• 2+ years of relevant experience designing mechanical solutions for electronics products.
• This position requires working directly or indirectly with the US Government in restricted environments. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holder).
Why Join Us:
• Work on cutting-edge technology bridging embedded systems, cloud computing, and AI applications.
• Collaborate with world-class engineers solving complex distributed systems challenges.
• High ownership, fast iteration, and opportunities to lead architecture and innovation initiatives.
