Position Overview
Role: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
Employment Type: Full-time
Reporting To: Head of Product Engineering
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, and validation of point-of-care diagnostic devices. The role involves close collaboration with electronics, software, systems, and regulatory teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and manufacturable medical products.

Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for PoC diagnostic devices using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA).
• Perform structural, thermal, and basic dynamic analysis using simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB where applicable).
• Design and optimize subsystems including:
• Enclosures and housings for electronics and optics
• Fluidic and microfluidic components
• Battery enclosures and electromechanical assemblies
• Sheet-metal and injection-molded parts
• Support verification and validation (V&V) activities including mechanical reliability testing, leak testing, tolerance validation, and failure analysis.
• Apply DFx principles (DFM, DFA, DFR, cost-out/VAVE) to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, supplier coordination, pilot builds, and design transfer to manufacturing.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including drawings with GD&T, design calculations, test reports, and DHF inputs.
• Conduct root cause analysis using FMEA, FTA, 8D, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, software, procurement, suppliers, and regulatory teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
5–7+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or R&D. Experience in medical devices, diagnostics, or regulated hardware is preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials selection, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools.
• Experience in reliability engineering, testing, and electromechanical systems.
• Exposure to diagnostic devices, microfluidics, optics integration, or PoC platforms is an advantage.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 60601. See
