We're automating homebuilding. Our MicroFactory produces full-scale framing panels directly on the construction site - wall panels, floor panels, roof panels - manufactured on demand, in sync with the build. No factory. No trucking. No delays.

We've built technology that works and deployed it on real construction sites. Now we're growing our team and looking for the person who gets MicroFactories built and tested for our customers.

🪵 The Role

We're looking for a hands-on technician to help us build, run, and improve our MicroFactories from our workshop in North-East London (Blackhorse Road). This is a contract role through December 2026.

You'll spend your days assembling hardware, running the robot, testing upgrades, inspecting output, and managing our workshop and inventory. One morning you might be fitting sensors to a new cell; that afternoon you might be running a production test and logging what went wrong. The work is physical, varied, and real. You'll see the direct result of what you build.

You'll work alongside a team of mechanical and software engineers. They're designing and improving the system; you're helping make it work in the real world. That means your observations, instincts, and feedback matter as much as your hands.

This role will likely involve some element of shift working between June and early September. Intended shift pattern is a 2 shift (07:00-15:00, 13:00-21:00). A shift working premium will be applied during this period.

😎 What you'll do day-to-day

• Assemble and install mechanical, electrical, and sensor hardware into MicroFactory cells.
• Independently run the MicroFactory to test reliability, performance, and new upgrades.
• Prepare and organise materials ahead of test programs.
• Inspect timber frame panels produced by the MicroFactory and record quality data
• Carry out daily maintenance checks and consumable replacements.
• Keep the workshop tidy, safe, and well-organised. Tools where they belong, nothing left to chance.
• Flag problems early and feed observations back to the engineering team.

• You're the person who takes things apart to understand how they work and puts them back together properly.
• You don't wait to be told what needs doing. If something's not working, you're already looking at it. If you have an idea of how something can be done better, you do it. If the workshop's a mess, you sort it.
• Ambiguity doesn't freeze you. You can make a judgment call, move, and adjust.
• You care about doing things properly, not just done, but done right.

📝 What you'll need

• Experience building, fixing, or making things, whether that's through an apprenticeship, a project at university, a personal project habit, or something else entirely. Show us what you've done.
• Confident working with hand tools.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and sensors.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable figuring things out without a manual.

What will set you apart:

• Hands-on experience with CNC machines or robotic systems. If you've run, maintained, or programmed one, that’s a massive bonus.
• Experience with electrical or pneumatic assembly.
• Background in fabrication, timber construction, or manufacturing environments.

Formal qualifications (engineering degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent) are welcome but not required. We care about what you can do, not what's on your certificate.
