Job Summary / Purpose:
To develop, standardise, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, repeatable, and high-quality production of equipment and modules, while supporting NPI, yield improvement, and cost optimisation in line with NSW Automation’s growth and IMS requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Process Development & Standardisation
- Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing process flows, work instructions, and control plans.
- Define standard methods, for assembly, wiring, testing, and integration processes.
- Ensure processes are designed for repeatability, scalability, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
- Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide daily manufacturing support to resolve process-related issues affecting quality, yield, or delivery.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions.
- Continuous Improvement (CI)
- Drive lean manufacturing and CI initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and shorten lead time.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process simplification, and automation.
- Track and report improvement results using measurable KPIs.
- Engineering Collaboration
- Support transition from engineering to manufacturing, including pilot builds and ramp-up.
- Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Product Engineering to feedback manufacturability risks and improvements.
- Participate in design reviews from a manufacturing and process readiness perspective.
- Quality, IMS & Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and internal IMS
- procedures.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, risk assessments, and change records.
- Support internal and external audits related to manufacturing processes.
- Equipment, Tooling & Layout
- Define requirements for jigs, fixtures, tools, and test setups to support production needs.
- Work with vendors and internal teams for tooling qualification and validation.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years' experience in manufacturing or process engineering within equipment or machine automation industry.
- Experience in assembly, wiring, testing, or system integration environments is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, and process validation.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and CI tools.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and BOMs.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
