Job Description
The Manager, Reactor Analysis is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of reactor analysts at the McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR). This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of the reactor by planning optimal core configurations, managing fuel usage, and balancing neutron flux to meet diverse operational demands including isotope production, neutron beam science, and academic research. The manager provides strategic direction for implementing advanced analysis methods, actively engaging with the broader nuclear community to integrate innovative techniques and maintain alignment with industry best practices.
In addition to technical leadership, the manager fosters strong collaborative relationships across the university, working closely with researchers, faculty, and students to provide training and co-supervision on relevant research projects. This role also plays a critical part in bridging the work of reactor analysts with operations staff, promoting knowledge sharing and operational excellence. The manager will also oversee collaborative projects with industry partners, ensuring timely and successful execution of externally sponsored initiatives.
A central responsibility of the position is the preparation and submission of high-quality safety analysis reports to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, requiring a strong understanding of regulatory expectations and validation standards.
