Manager, Legal & Site Contracts
Legal Department | EU Region | Romania-Based | Full-Time
About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially minded legal professional to join our Legal team as Manager, Legal and Site Contracts. Based in Romania, you’ll provide legal support across the EU region and globally, serving as a trusted partner to commercial, operations, and corporate teams.
This is a broad, hands-on role spanning contract management, site-level clinical trial agreements, regulatory advisory, corporate governance, and M&A support. You’ll work closely with an Associate Director and collaborate with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
What You’ll Do
Business & Commercial Legal Support
- Develop, review, and maintain contract templates, negotiation tools, and fallback documents (NDAs, sponsor contracts, partner and vendor agreements) across the EU region
- Partner with commercial and business operations teams to support opportunities, mitigate risk, and deliver legal training on MSAs, negotiation strategy, and key legal principles
- Advise on EU regulatory matters, data privacy (including GDPR), antitrust, advertising compliance, and anti-bribery obligations
- Manage the full contract lifecycle — drafting, negotiation, execution, amendment, renewal, and termination
Site Contract Management
- Act as site contract lead on assigned EU projects, managing legal escalations with sponsors
- Develop and maintain country-specific Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) templates, negotiation tools, and fallback documents
- Support Clinical Operations on site contract negotiations and provide legal guidance on ICFs, Powers of Attorney, Local Regulatory Approvals, and ancillary documents
- Deliver training sessions on site contracting to internal and external stakeholders
Corporate & Global Legal
- Manage external counsel relationships across the EU and support vendor selection and oversight
- Advise on IP matters, employment law, data privacy, and corporate governance including entity structuring and company secretarial activities
- Maintain corporate policies, compliance frameworks, and accurate records of agreements, entities, and legal documentation
- Collaborate with global legal colleagues to ensure consistency, share best practices, and support cross-regional projects
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (or equivalent qualification to practise in an EU jurisdiction)
- Minimum 3 years’ progressive experience as a practising lawyer with strong commercial and contract law expertise
- In-house counsel experience strongly preferred, ideally within a CRO environment. Candidates from the broader biotech or pharmaceutical industry will also be considered
- Sound knowledge of CRO-related laws and regulations, including ICH-GCP guidelines and applicable EU regulatory requirements
Desirable
- Proficiency in additional EU languages is a strong advantage — Romanian is particularly valued given the role’s location
- Qualification or experience in Irish law and / or other EU law
- Knowledge of legal frameworks across multiple EU member states
- Experience supporting legal matters across regions beyond Europe (e.g., APAC, Americas)
- Familiarity with M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration
- Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or related advanced qualification
- Proficiency with legal technology and contract management systems
