The McMaster University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a large multi-site department with over 100 Geographic full-time, part-time clinical and adjunct faculty located at two fully-affiliated teaching hospitals, community teaching hospitals and other distributed education sites. About the Role:
Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Manager of Finance and Administration will provide support to the department in the area of financial management and will support the research team administrative activities. The Manager will work closely in developing and advising Department Leadership and the Director of Administration on processes and policies contributing to the efficient operations and finances across all sites (SJH, JHC, WLMH, MUMC).
Job Summary:
The Manager will lead operations projects and develop human, financial and physical resource strategies. The Manager of Finance and Administration acts with considerable independence, discretion, judgement and initiative in providing timely support and advice concerning Human Resources and Finance functions including responsibilities such as: staff recruitment and retention, performance management, drafting of department policies and procedures, monitoring financial results, and advising Leadership on the collective bargaining agreement.
Financial management of operating accounts are the responsibility of the Manager of Finance and Administration. He/she will lead and manage updates, review, analysis and planning throughout the year and will lead the budget process with Health Sciences Finance and the University.
The Manager of Finance and Administration will act as a delegate for the Director of Administration on assigned committees, and delegated financial approvals with the clinical practice plan as required. They will assist the Director of Administration with faculty recruitment and liaise with the Faculty Relations Office of Health Sciences to ensure timely and efficient processing of faculty hire packages and onboarding.

Lead development of standard operating procedures for the department
Draft, review, edit, maintain comprehensive library of Terms of Reference of the department
