We are seeking an experienced
Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer (Software Engineer 2)
to support legacy mainframe environments and the Mainframe Transformation Team. This role involves expert-level z/OS systems administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and support of CICS, IMS, and related mainframe infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
for z/OS operating systems and system components.
- Provide technical support for planning, testing, and implementing z/OS releases, upgrades, and system changes.
- Perform routine mainframe administration, including configuration, break/fix, user account support, security administration, and system maintenance.
- Support ISV products such as
BlueZone
and administer
SCLM
.
- Provide primary administrative support for
CICS® and IMS™
environments.
- Diagnose platform and software issues; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor system performance and provide input for capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Support system-wide parameter and library management activities.
- Work closely with Network, Customer Support, and Applications teams for daily operational needs.
- Support mainframe integration testing for new products and enhancements.
- Provide technical leadership for internal projects impacting z/OS.
- Assist with Production Control, Support Jobs, and monthly Job Scheduling.
- Support mainframe operations within the State’s Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS).

z/OS Systems Programming experience
- 5+ years
experience with JES2, OMVS (Unix System Services), and SMS
- 3+ years
experience with
TSS (Top Secret Security)
- 3+ years
experience with performance monitoring and initial analysis
- 2+ years
experience with
REXX scripting
