Overview:

The Software & Services group, a world leader in mission critical communications systems, focused on Next Generation 9-1-1 Solutions. VESTA Router Service provides 9-1-1 authorities the essential geospatial routing infrastructure for regional or statewide deployments. This role is a cornerstone of our local NYC team, supporting the high-availability infrastructure that ensures these critical systems remain stable in a demanding, mission-critical environment.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (BSEE/BSCE/BSCS or MS preferred)
7+ years of expert Linux administration experience focused on designing, deploying, and maintaining large-scale private cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Not Necessary but a plus:
Experience deploying or operating 9-1-1 infrastructure.
Advanced level knowledge of incident response, detection, and prevention.
Experience configuring Out-of-Band Management (OOBM) access via hardware consoles or server management tools like HPE iLO or Raritan console servers.
Certifications related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux or VMware.

Linux System Hardening and Engineering:
Serve as the deep technical resource for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems, overseeing security baselines configured according to industry standards, such as CIS.
Automation and Configuration Management:
Design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure automation solutions using tools like Ansible and Ansible Tower, leveraging languages such as Bash or Python, and structured formats like YAML.
Core System Administration:
Administer and maintain core virtualization technologies, specifically the VMware vSphere (ESXi v.7.0+ / vCenter) environment, focusing on Linux host optimization and performance.
DNS:
Expertise deploying, monitoring and maintaining DNS/DSNSEC systems.
Networking and Connectivity:
Manage the configuration of core Linux components interacting with software-defined networking.
Security and Access Control:
Manage server access controls and identities, administering secrets via Thycotic Secret Server/Delinea deployments.
Proactive Maintenance and Disaster Recovery:
Coordinate and execute internal patches, updates, and software upgrades using automated systems, and test data protection strategies, including Veeam backups and HPE Nimble Storage replication.
Change Governance:
Document and present changes for approval and execution to the Change Control Board.
High-Impact Troubleshooting:
Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex system faults reported by monitoring platforms like ScienceLogic to ensure continuous operational excellence.
Operational Commitment:
Actively participate in the 24x7x365 on call rotation for emergency response
Linux OS Mastery:
Expert-level administration, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
Advanced Scripting and Automation:
Proven ability to develop automated solutions for deployment and maintenance using Ansible, Ansible Tower, Bash, or Python, often utilizing YAML syntax.
Linux Security Focus:
Deep experience securing Linux endpoints using CIS Baselines, managing SSH PKI/certificates, and leveraging secrets management platforms like Thycotic/Delinea.
Virtual Infrastructure Support:
Experience managing RHEL guests on enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi v.7.0+, vCenter, and software-defined networking (e.g., NSX-T or GENEVE).
Network Protocol Fluency:
Strong understanding of core IP protocols utilized in Linux networking, including BGP routing, DNS, and secure communication protocols like SSH, HTTPS, and TLS.
Monitoring and Observability:
Familiarity with monitoring platforms like ScienceLogic and managing system logs (Syslog).
Data Protection:
Experience deploying and operating backup and recovery technologies such as Veeam and managing snapshots on SAN infrastructure (e.g., HPE Nimble Storage).
