About the job
We’re looking for a Lead Developer to take over as our technical leader. Our current Tech Lead (founder) will transition this role to you over 6-12 months. You’ll start solo, learning the system through pair programming and AI-assisted development. As we scale, you’ll build and lead the engineering team. By the end of your first year, you’ll own all technical decisions.
Your objectives
Phase 1 (Months 1-3):
– Pair program with current tech lead to learn the system
– Use AI tools to learn the codebase and ship features quickly
– Take ownership of smaller features end-to-end
Phase 2 (Months 3-9):
– Drive major features and architectural decisions independently
– Define development processes and quality standards
– Current tech lead gradually steps back from coding
Phase 3 (Months 9-18):
– Full technical ownership
– Hire and build your engineering team (2-4 developers)
– Shape technical direction as we scale
About you
– 5+ years building software across different stacks
– Fast learner with proven ability to pick up new technologies quickly
– Heavy AI tool user (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar)
– Independent operator comfortable making decisions and shipping solo
– Systems thinker who can understand complex codebases
– Leadership potential to build and mentor a team
