The Lead Network Engineer will serve as the senior sustainment and O&M network engineering lead supporting cyber sensing development and defense activities. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining mission-critical network and cyber sensing capabilities in support of the DoDIN, including technologies such as Open Sensor Platforms, Full Packet Capture, Intrusion Detection Systems, Automated Security Validation, and emerging sensing solutions. The SME will ensure reliable, secure data flow and connectivity across internal systems, external interfaces, and internet-facing services, operating across cloud, lab, and operational network environments, including NIPRNet and SIPRNet-connected enclaves

Design, deploy, and sustain large-scale, secure network infrastructure supporting cyber sensing and monitoring platforms.
Minimum Requirements
Desired Experience/Certifications
Experience supporting DISA, DoD cyber programs, or large scale operational sensor platforms is highly desired.
One or more of the following certifications: CCNP, CSSP, GCIA, Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIP
Own and lead major technical efforts, including architecture decisions, system design, and sustainment and modernization planning.
Ensure systems and all critical interfaces remain ready, stable, and reliable to meet mission requirements.
Analyze deployed systems (hardware, software, and configurations) to assess performance, compliance, and required changes driven by STIGs, RMF, vulnerability remediation, COTS upgrades, and external interface impacts.
Engineer and maintain network architectures integrating routers, switches, firewalls, encryption devices, IDS/IPS, packet capture, and monitoring tools.
Lead monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response activities, serving as the final technical escalation point and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Lead requirements analysis and system integration to ensure new sensing capabilities meet mission objectives and integrate seamlessly with DoD networks.
Collaborate closely with Government leadership, system owners, cybersecurity teams, DevSecOps, and engineering teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to network engineers and support enterprise-level initiatives.
Maintain network architecture documentation, standards, procedures, and status reporting for stakeholders and senior leadership.
8+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, architecture, or complex system design within DoD, cyber, or enterprise environments.
Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
Active DoD Secret clearance required.
Security+ Certification
Strong understanding of cyber sensing technologies, including intrusion detection, packet capture, threat analytics, and SIEM integration.
Advanced knowledge of network protocols and technologies (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, routing, switching).
Experience with network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper network platforms in secure, mission-critical environments.
Hands-on experience with network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption, and Zero Trust concepts.
Knowledge of DevSecOps principles, automation, test integration, and scalable deployment architectures
Experience supporting DoD compliance frameworks, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53.
Experience engineering solutions across on-premises and cloud environments, including virtualization and containerization and cloud native architectures.
Proven ability to lead technical efforts and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
