About the Role

Galatek is seeking a Lead Field Application Scientist (FAS) to own the scientific, technical, and application execution of our laboratory automation platforms across strategic pharma, biotech, and research accounts. This role spans pre-sale technical engagement through post-sale implementation and adoption. The Lead FAS will serve as the primary scientific owner for customer workflows, ensuring solutions sold are successfully implemented, validated, and operational. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strong laboratory automation experience, customer-facing credibility, and the ability to operate across global teams

Key Responsibilities

Lead pre-sales scientific engagement, including demos, workflow evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities
Own post-sale application implementation for systems supported during pre-sales, from onboarding through go-live
Design, optimize, and validate automated laboratory workflows (liquid handling, sample prep, consumables, software)
Partner with Sales and Strategic Accounts to scope technically sound, executable solutions
Serve as the primary escalation point for application-level issues post-installation
Support workflow expansion, consumables pull-through, and long-term customer success
Provide structured customer feedback to Product Management, R&D, and Engineering

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or PhD preferred in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field
7+ years of experience in Field Application Scientist, scientific automation, or post-sale application deployment roles
Hands-on experience with laboratory automation platforms (e.g., liquid handling, integrated systems)
Strong understanding of life science laboratory workflows
Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese (required)
Proven ability to engage directly with customers and own implementation outcomes

Travel & Training Requirements

Willingness to travel 40–60% (customer sites, internal meetings, conferences)
Willingness and ability to spend an extended period overseas (minimum 1 month+) in Suzhou, China for initial training
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport and required visas

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting enterprise pharma or biotech customers
Exposure to AI-enabled, software-driven, or data-centric laboratory platforms
Experience in regulated environments (GLP, GxP, clinical, or manufacturing)
Prior collaboration with China-based R&D or applications teams
